Answers to your questions
How do I know if I need restorative dental treatment?
If you have tooth pain, sensitivity, a chipped or cracked tooth, a loose filling, difficulty chewing, or a missing tooth, it’s time to be evaluated. Even if you’re not in pain, small issues (like early decay) can become bigger problems if left untreated.
What is a dental crown used for?
Crowns are commonly used to restore teeth that are cracked, broken, heavily filled, worn down, or weakened after a root canal. They “cap” the tooth to protect it and restore normal function.
Do same-day crowns last as long as traditional crowns?
They can. Same-day crowns are made from strong, high-quality materials and are designed to fit precisely. With good oral hygiene and routine dental visits, crowns can last many years.
What if I have a cavity — do you use tooth-colored fillings?
Yes. We offer composite (tooth-colored) fillings that blend in naturally with your smile. They’re a great option for repairing cavities and small areas of damage while maintaining a natural look.
When do I need a root canal?
A root canal may be needed if the inside of your tooth (the pulp) becomes infected or inflamed. Common signs include lingering sensitivity, swelling, tooth pain, or a deep cavity. Root canal treatment removes the infection, relieves discomfort, and helps you keep your natural tooth.
What restorative options do you offer for missing teeth?
We offer multiple solutions depending on your needs, including dental implants, bridges, and dentures. During your consultation, our Overland Park restorative dentists will help you choose the option that fits your smile goals, health needs, and budget.
How long does my first restorative visit take?
Your first visit typically takes about 90 minutes and includes a comprehensive exam, cleaning, and time to talk through your concerns and goals. If you’re in pain or have an urgent issue, we’ll focus on getting you comfortable and starting the right treatment as soon as possible.
